Kelly McGillis - Acting No Longer Defines Her

Kelly McGillis is known best for the amazing role she played in the 1986 movie, Top Gun. Although she has continued to be an actress in Hollywood, she makes it clear that she no longer believes acting defines her life or personality. Kelly McGillis specifically explained that she has grown and matured over the course of her life.

When asked about this subject, Kelly responded by saying “I have a lot of other interests I'm passionate about and I'm willing to explore what they might be." For example, McGillis specifically said she enjoys stage work in plays such as The Graduate. Kelly McGillis also said she is passionate about helping a clinic in New Jersey that deals with people needing encouragement and assistance overcoming problems that deal with alcohol abuse and substance abuse.

In Top Gun we saw that Kelly McGillis worked for the military; she was familiar with controversial projects dealing with the Soviet Union. But Top Gun was just a movie. In the real world we see that Kelly McGillis is a class act because she is passionate about helping others. This type of defining role is what she may take pride in more than any other, since this is what she will always be remembered for most in the lives of people she has helped.
