Fall Season is Here!

September 23, 2011 at 5:05am EDT is officially identified as the start of the fall equinox. It has been said this part of the year represents the summer’s last heat and the fall’s first chill. The days and nights are balanced at 12 hours each as the Sun crosses the celestial equator. From this point on, the amount of sunlight seen each day will grow shorter.

Fall is probably my favorite time of the year. The grass in my yard doesn’t grow as quickly as it did during the summer, and the temperatures aren’t as hot out. Baseball season is getting exciting because of the playoffs. And of course, football season is just starting up.

I really think the great thing about the fall season, also referred to as autumn, is the fact that camping and barbeques are just as fun as they always are. In fact, certain parts of camping and barbeques may be even better during the fall that during the summer. For example, a nice warm bonfire during a cold fall night can feel great. And during those cold fall nights, the mosquitoes aren’t so aggressive.

Make a Wish Using This Dual Rainbow!

Yesterday I looked out the window at the exact moment needed to see an incredibly bright dual rainbow! I grabbed my camera as fast as I could so all of my loyal Followers could see this wonderful rainbow. I'm sure you will want to tell all of your family members and friends about this, because it really is a beautiful thing to see. You might want to use this rainbow to make a wish! (Note: I am disabled with epilepsy, so it might be nice if everyone wished for me to get better.) ;)

Will You Be Left Behind May 21, 2011 When and If the Rapture Happens, as Predicted?

 

The Rapture is a topic debated amongst Christians. Many Christians believe that since they have been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ they will not be forced to live through seven years of apocalyptic tribulation before the Lord returns. Other Christians believe that since God's people were forced to live through tribulation in the Old Testament era under leaders such as Moses, it means they will be forced to live through tribulation in this New Testament era we currently live in. But one thing is clear, the majority of Christians never put an exact time on the moment the Rapture will take place or the moment we will see the return of Jesus Christ.

However, once in a while we do see a group of Christians put a date on when these so-called Judgment Day events will take place. May 21, 2011 is the day that Christians at wecanknow.com have said they believe Jesus Christ will return to save His followers, taking all of those born-again followers with Him. The Rapture will cause everyone else who was not born-again to be left behind, wondering how millions of people could have just magically disappeared right before their eyes. This prediction has generated a lot of publicity with the media and also given atheists something new to target as evidence that there is no god.

The term atheist is often confused with the term agnostic. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, an agnostic person is "One who is not committed to believing in either the existence or nonexistence of God or a god. A person who is unwilling to commit to an opinion about something." But an atheist is more hardcore in beliefs, which is why the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the term atheist as "One who believes that there is no deity." In other words, an atheist knows exactly what he or she believes and acts on those beliefs -- similar to the ways religious people such as Christians act on beliefs and call it faith.

A group of atheists that host a radio show on KLAY AM 1180 have said they are hosting a party for those "Left Behind." These atheists are referring to everyone on the planet, since they believe nobody will be taken during any form of Rapture on May 21, 2011. Put differently, this is the atheists way of saying everyone is invited to the party. There is an official invite from these radio hosts that says:

"The night that we’re all Left Behind, May 21st, 2011 at 8:00 PM, the producers and crew of Ask An Atheist would love to see you at Dorky’s Arcade in Tacoma. We’re throwing an awesome party in Tacoma’s new retro arcade and bringing in our favorite Seattle bands to rock the place as we celebrate the END… of the countdown to backpedaling."

Time for Us to Fight Back Against Pirates - SOS Style! (Save Our Seafarers)

Over the last year I’ve heard quite a bit about how Somali pirates on the Indian Ocean have been hijacking boats of all sizes in order to steal things and take money from people on board. Gradually I heard more about the crimes being committed by pirates, which meant the crimes were being committed at a faster rate. Over the course of time, it seemed like the pirates were targeting larger boats to hijack. This clearly shows the confidence of the pirates was growing at a fast rate. 

The question is, “Why would these pirates suddenly feel such a high level of confidence?” The answer is that there are very few government laws or penalties to prevent pirates from committing those types of crimes. Laws of various countries have different rules and regulations for dealing with criminals such as pirates. 

I’ve learned that some of the various countries don’t even approve of law enforcement officials doing anything at all to take a hijacked boat back from the pirates. What’s worse is that there are laws in place that make it so pirates don’t face any form of legal resistance or any form of legal penalty once they attempt to hijack a vehicle. Once a pirate has been captured, the governments of foreign countries release 80% of the criminals so they can go back out on the water and commit the same crimes again! 

Earlier this year I saw that pirates had hijacked a multimillion dollar oil supertanker! This ship, called the MV Irene SL, has a crew of 25 and carried two-million barrels of oil valued at over $200 million. This huge amount of oil represented 20% of the daily crude oil import of the United States, and about 5% of daily world oil imports. 

Only during the last several days did the pirates decide to release this huge oil tanker and its passengers after 58 days of holding them hostage! Piracy in the open waters has truly become a well-planned and well-managed industry. This was proven when we learned that the pirates were using this huge oil tanker as a “mother ship” for their smaller pirate vessels! 

I thought to myself, “How in the world were low-budget pirates able to conquer this huge oil vessel so easily?” I thought it must be more difficult to hijack a huge oil vessel than a smaller boat. But that is actually not the case at all. 

The reason pirates had such an easy time hijacking the oil tanker is because the pirates were armed with weapons while the crew was not. Those huge oil tankers do not allow the crew to carry weapons on board, even when they know they are travelling through pirate-infested waters! Hopefully this policy is going to officially change now that the problem of piracy in the 21st century has become more of a real threat to vessels of any size and any value. 

Thankfully, we’ve learned that the hostages from the oil tanker were recently released in good health by the Somali pirates. Often, people are systematically tortured and even killed by pirates. And just in case you care, the oil tanker was being returned to a port, now that the pirates are finished with it. These facts were confirmed in a public statement released by the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO). INTERTANKO makes it 100% clear in their public statement that piracy is not going to disappear any time soon. Governments are encouraged to work together to find the root cause of piracy and stop it. Unfortunately, this statement realistically points out something most all us knew all along. The fact is, it is generally accepted that the different beliefs and different laws of various countries will prevent that from happening. For now, INTERTANKO wants everyone to know that every vessel is at threat in the open waters of the Indian Ocean – an area where 40% of the world’s oil supply passes through.

INTERTANKO wants people to realize governments in that part of the world do virtually nothing to stop Somali pirates, and even when the pirates are caught they are released most of the time. Only recently did India decide to crack down slightly harder by retaking a large mother ship from the pirates. History has already proven that piracy problems can be so severe that it causes interferences with economies and disrupts world trade. Supplies will be affected and shipping costs will rise – expenses that ultimately will be felt by consumers, since those expenses will be passed on to us at stores and oil pumps.
